U13s start New Year with a bang
8 January 2011
Venue: Tooting Bec
Providence House A 1 St. Matthew’s 4
After the Christmas break it was vital that we got 2011 off to a winning start and we did just that with a hard fought win against Providence House A. After going 1-0 up early on with some excellent play once again down the right and a great finish after Providence failed to clear a cross, we found it hard going in the middle of the park. Then a wind-assisted cross-cum-shot found its way into the back of our net to make it 1-1. During the second half we kept it tight at the back and after the wind died down it looked like there was only going to be one winner. After being caught offside a few times, we finally broke clear of the defence and with a cool finish we were 2-1 up. With ten minutes to go our superior fitness levels began to show and we added another two goals late on in the game for a deserved 4-1 victory. Well done boys. (Cliche check: 4)
