August saw SMP complete it’s 12th consecutive free summer holiday programme, its 8th as a Lambeth Summer World Cup host. An average of 60 young people attended per session (twice a week over 5 weeks) and SMP will be sending teams in 4 different age categories to the grand borough-wide finals at Fulham F.C’s training ground in Motspur Park, Surrey on 6 September.

In addition, thanks to funding from St. Luke’s Hub, we provided over 600 free healthy lunches, including jerk chicken wraps from Brixton’s Orange Bay restaurant and fresh fruit and snack bars from the Fare Share UK Charity. On the final day tournament 62 participants were served a delicious meal of jerk chicken, rice & peas, plantain and coleslaw.

Congratulations to our team of 6 coaches – 5 of whom came through the Project as participants – and our 3 local mums, Kimberley, Marcia and Samantha for running the ‘kitchen’.
