STREET GAMES TRIUMPH AT WESTWAY
The October half-term holiday saw young people from St. Matthew’s enjoy a great day out at the Street Games Festival in Paddington, competing against teams from all over London and as far away as Bristol. The Festival was aimed at providing projects with a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people to compete in a major event in the run up to the London Olympic & Paralympic Games, and to gain a real sense of pride in representing their local community. Our players certainly did their community proud, winning both the girls and boys 13-16 age group 6-a-side football tournaments – and without conceding a single goal between them along the way. Even more impressive was that out of the 17 players involved only one was 16.
