SMP held its 15th consecutive holiday scheme this summer and 11th as a Lambeth Summer World Cup official host. A total throughput of over 700 young people enjoyed free football coaching, small-sided games and end-of-scheme tournaments, plus a free hot meal over the 10 sessions during July and August. We also held our 4th ‘SW2 World Cup’ tournament since 2006 (tied to FIFA World Cup years), where young people aged 12-18 get to represent their or their parents’ country of origin and get to keep a t-shirt in their country’s colours. This year saw Ghana beat DR Congo in the final on penalties.

Selected players at U12, 14 & 16 will now go on to take part in a borough-wide Lambeth Summer World Cup final at Fulham F.C’s training ground in Motspur Park, Surrey on 2 September.
